Delivering a goalkeeping pathway where likeminded, local, talented goalkeepers can maximise their personal progression both on and off the pitch

The Community Sports Foundation’s Goalkeeper Development Programme is designed to help young talented goalkeepers, both male and female, reach their full potential.

With age groups from U7-U18 , our programme is tailored to give goalkeepers the opportunity to progress technically and tactically in the game, as well as aiming to develop the individual socially and psychologically.

The Goalkeepers’ Technical Centre is a training-only programme, where goalkeepers will receive weekly technical coaching sessions at one of two Norwich-based venues.

The Goalkeeper Development Centre offers goalkeepers the chance to receive quality technical coaching sessions, across 32 weeks, at venues situated in key areas around Norfolk and North Suffolk (Carrow Park, Dereham, The Nest, Gorleston and Lowestoft).

DC Goalkeepers will also be offered the chance to attend four Goalkeeper Development Days during half-terms at a central Norwich venue.

While the primary focus of the GK DC is to deliver a technical training programme, there will be select opportunities for players to take part in both an internal fixture programme, and to be selected to play in DC representative fixtures.

The Advanced Development Centre offers players the chance to train twice per week at a central Norwich venue, alongside a squad of selected ADC players of similar potential. Within each ADC squad there are two selected goalkeepers per age group, who will train in both goalkeeper specific training sessions and within team based matchplay sessions.

A comprehensive fixture programme forms a key part of the ADC.

To date, the fixture programme has included matches against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Swansea City, Stoke City and Watford

The Girls Goalkeeper Development Centre offers goalkeepers the chance to receive quality technical coaching sessions, across 32 weeks, at a new central location of Brundall Sports Hub.

The Advanced Development Centre forms the second tier of our girls’ football provision.

The ADC includes 32 weeks of training, both technically at GK Specific sessions at our Girls Goalkeeper Centre at the Brundall Sports Hub and tactically within ADC squad sessions.

Alongside this, the ADC will receive four development fixture days and fixtures across the season against the likes of Colchester United, Reading and Cambridge United.

The Academy Development Programme is the top tier of our girls’ football provision and includes 32 weeks of training at The Nest. Alongside this, the ADP will receive a competitive fixture programme across the season which sees matches against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, and Boys Development teams, as well as opportunities to take part in festivals, development days and tours.

The FA Emerging Talent Centre is part of the FA girls’ talent pathway and will be delivered by the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation on behalf of the FA.

The national network of girls’ ETCs are be aimed at girls aged eight to 16. The new centres will operate for at least 30 weeks per season and will commence from September 2022. The centres will be underpinned by five key areas:

1. Better accessibility
2. More inclusivity
3. Reducing the impact of early selection
4. More focused investment
5. Providing more appropriate challenges

ADP/ETC Goalkeepers will receive specific, technical goalkeeper coaching at The Nest twice a week.

Pathways

We are extremely proud of the pathway we are able to offer our young people.

From U7-U16 there are weekly sessions available to players relevant to their age and ability.

At U16, our CSF Canaries play in the Thurlow Nunn U18 youth league, where two goalkeepers are selected for this squad.

Post 16, the CSF Football & Education programmes (Male | Female) offers students the chance to swap a traditional classroom for a learning environment immersed within a professional football club, while continuing their development on the pitch.

Beyond that, there are opportunities to find employment with the Foundation as part of our coaching team.
