North Norfolk MP visits local National Citizen Service group
This Thursday, Norman Lamb MP for North Norfolk joined a group of young teenagers who were taking part in a sponsored swim to raise money for Nelson’s Journey.
During his visit, Norman met National Citizen Service (NCS) participants in their final week of the programme and gave his support to their fundraising work. Norman heard first-hand how NCS is helping to develop participants’ life skills, resilience, and wellbeing, and boost community engagement across the country. He said:
“I was delighted to spend time with so many young people from Norfolk who are participating in the programme and making a real difference in our local community. It’s fantastic to hear about the inspiration behind fundraising activities such as this sponsored swim. The teenagers involved were brilliant in talking me through their planning.”
This group are just some of the 1400 young people from Norfolk taking part in the NCS programme this summer.
NCS is a nationwide youth programme which brings together 15 – 17 years olds to learn new skills during the school holidays.
Young people participating in NCS take part in a variety of activities, including personal and team challenges, which benefit our local community.
Norman had this to say about the programme:
“I’m pleased to see the valuable work of NCS is being supported here in Norfolk. The team are dedicated to helping local young people further their education outside of the classroom, make new friends, and develop essential skills for work and life.”
The team were taking part in NCS with the Community Sports Foundation. For more information about the programme please click here.
