World Mental Health Day
As Norwich City FC recognise World Mental Health Day on Monday, 10th of October, the Foundation are highlighting the recent launch of two new programmes that focus on mental wellbeing: Ahead of the Game and Team Talk. The two new programmes are in addition to the already established Run for Me programme.
One in four people in the UK experience mental health problems, and many studies have shown that sport is a great way of improving overall happiness, health, and mental wellbeing, as well as alleviating the symptoms of depression.
Team Talk gives adults the chance to benefit from free, weekly football, followed by a friendly and supportive social session.
Ahead of the Game is our youth club programme for young people aged 13 to 17. The programme takes place in The Nest’s engage space, so attendees can enjoy a host of fun activities with a side benefit of supporting their mental wellbeing from a mental health first aid-trained Foundation staff member.
Run For Me is a community running group, which has an added focus on supporting its participants’ mental health and wellbeing. The group meets once a week for a 60-minute running session led by qualified running coaches, followed by a 30-minute social session. The programme is supported by glazers, Massimo Sky.
These programmes help provide a friendly support group for its participants, giving them an outlet from day-to-day stresses, as well as being a great way to stay physically healthy and fit through sports and activities. You can sign up to Team Talk and Ahead of the Game today via the Foundation’s website.
