Over £6000 raised from three day challenge
Over the Bank Holiday weekend, a group of 11 fundraisers made the long trip to Northumberland to embark on an 85-mile trek across Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for the Community Sports Foundation (CSF).
The team set off from Wallsend on Friday morning, walking continuously for 12 hours per day across fields, villages and roadside pathways before finishing up in Bowness-on-Solway on Sunday evening.
Over £6000 has been raised so far which will help to improve the lives of disadvantaged and disabled people throughout Norfolk.
CSF Charity Fundraising Officer Emma Fletcher described the challenge as “hard but extremely rewarding,” and offered her thanks to all involved. She added:
“I am so incredibly proud of everyone. The group had to contend with some very changeable weather with both thunderstorms and blistering sunshine making appearances.
“Although the team set a great pace, which they maintained through much of the walk, they were definitely feeling the effects of the challenge by day three!”
The event coincided perfectly with National Walking Month, a campaign which runs throughout May to encourage the public to get on their feet and reap the benefits of walking.
“Walking challenges play a big part in our fundraising activity. Earlier in May, around 11 families took part in our inaugural Mini Coastal Challenge where they had the chance to share some quality time together and make some special memories.
“Also, our annual Coastal Walk Challenge is imminent and something we are very much looking forward to!”
