North Norwich MP impressed with new local community hub
The Community Sports Foundation (CSF) were delighted to receive a visit from Member of Parliament for Norwich North Chloe Smith last month.
Chloe met with senior leaders and staff from CSF and also received a tour of The Nest, the Foundation’s new multi-purpose community hub.
As the MP for Norwich North Chloe was keen to learn more about the work of the charity and their plans for expansion, growth and helping the local community.
When completed, The Nest will allow the Foundation to reach a further 12,000 people a year, including people with disabilities, grassroots football teams, and people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Horsford-based site will feature an indoor sports hall, a gymnasium, a floodlit 3G football pitch, and classroom facilities, in addition to the renovation of the clubhouse, installation of residential ‘bunk boxes’, and the relaying of seven grass football pitches.
Work on Phase 1 of the project is due to be completed in June, when the residential bunk boxes, pitches and the clubhouse will be opening.
Chloe Smith said:
“I believe The Nest will provide a big, exciting, innovative new facility for the community. As it’s based to the north of the city I can see it bringing many opportunities to my constituency and particularly to those who need it most through the aims of the charity.”
CSF’s Head of Development, who is leading on the project, Jackie Thornton said:
“It was a great pleasure to host local MP Chloe Smith here at The Nest. Thank you to Chloe for visiting our new hub, we were really pleased that you see the potential the site has and the huge impact that it can have across the county.”
