Sunday's Premier League fixture with Manchester United fixture will be an opportunity for supporters to get behind our campaign
The Foundation needs to raise £1 million in the next few months in order to build the second phase of The Nest, our community hub in Horsford, and to show support for the project, Norwich City Football Club has pledged to match-fund any amount raised in this period up to a total of £500,000.
The second phase of The Nest will include an artificial 3G pitch that will become the new home of Norwich City Women FC, two multi-use areas that can act as classrooms or activity areas, and a café that will be used for social sessions at projects that support mental health, older people, and people with dementia.
There are various plans for Sunday’s fixture, including the news that the first team’s match shirts will feature the #BuildTheNest campaign hashtag, thanks to the generosity of principal club partner Dafabet. These limited-edition shirts will be auctioned off online post-match as part of the fundraising efforts.
Supporters are asked to “Bring A Pound To The Ground” and donate at one of the large number of collection buckets around the stadium on Sunday. These points will also be accepting contactless payments.
The Club can also confirm that our matchday programme OTBC will be priced at £4.50 with £1 from every sale being donated to the Build The Nest campaign.
Two weeks ago, 17 cars travelled over 2,000 miles across Europe in five days as part of the Credo Canaryball Rally, the first fundraiser of the campaign. The cars visited Arnhem, Munich, and Milan, where the Canaries travelled during their UEFA Cup run in 1993, and so far they have raised over £70,000.
On Sunday, members of ‘Team U Pukki’, who took part in the challenge, will be the game’s Community Heroes, while various members of existing Foundation programmes will form a guard of honour as the players enter the field of play.
Over at Carrow Park, representatives of the Community Sports Foundation’s disability football programme will play a fixture against their Manchester United counterparts as part of the usual FanZone activities before the game.
