Summer Cup 2023 draws to a close

The Summer Cup returned in rather wet and windy fashion this year as the Foundation hosted over 60 teams and around 500 players for three weekends of footballing festivities held at The Nest.

Despite the unfavourable weather, The Nest boasted its usual energetic atmosphere from the spectators and coaches alike, cheering on the young players as they enjoyed well-contested fixtures.

The tournament saw six age groups competing across three weekends in June, July and August respectively. Some players in the U7 and U8 tournaments were taking on competitive tournament football for the first time.

Chris Ninham, the Foundation’s Football Operations Manager said:

“It’s always so great to see such a vast selection of local sides come and compete in this competition each year and even more so to see some new sides emerge victorious.

“Everybody involved from players and coaches to spectators and referees helped to create a brilliant atmosphere. The maturity and sportsmanship displayed each year will never cease to amaze me. Long may the Summer Cup continue!”

Winners:

U9 – Hethersett

U10 – Dereham

U11 – Dersingham

U12 – Fakenham
