Stanley's Volunteering Journey

Stanley has already become one of the Community Sports Foundation’s most impactful young volunteers. As a committed volunteer across our football provision and a proud member of the Youth Voice Council, he’s proof of how powerful youth leadership can be.

We recently caught up with Stanley, to find out more about why he enjoys volunteering so much, and why he thinks it’s important to give back to his community.

How did your volunteering journey with the Foundation begin?

Stanley: “My volunteering pathway began at the age of 12 when a friend recommended the junior coaching course, which is just one of the fantastic opportunities offered by the Foundation.”

What motivated you to keep developing as a young coach?

Stanley: “Having enjoyed my time on the coaching course, I wanted to expand my development. I did this through volunteering at the Soccer Schools and Soccer Skills sessions during school holidays and weeknights, fitting it in around my other commitments.”

Why was giving back to your community important to you?

Stanley: “Having previously attended similar programmes when I was younger living in Coventry, I was inspired to give back to the local community whilst also developing my own coaching and life skills.”

What impact has volunteering had on your life?

Stanley: “Volunteering has benefited me in a plethora of ways. When I moved to Norfolk back in 2022 I felt isolated. The Foundation connected me with my love of football and helping people.”

What would you say to anyone looking to get involved with vlunteering at the Foundation?

Stanley: “I would highly recommend becoming a volunteer because not only does it improve the community and the people you are helping, but it also improves you as a person both physically and mentally.”

🌟 Why volunteers like Stanley matter 🌟

Volunteers like Stanley are the heartbeat of the Foundation’s work. Their energy and commitment make programmes more personal, more welcoming, and more impactful.
