Onside

As the name of the programme suggests, the Onside programme works holistically with young people and their families or carers to keep the young participants ‘onside’.

Using the power of sport, the programme aims to break the cycle of poor behaviour, youth crime and school exclusions to help steer young people back onto the right track before they reach their important teenage years.

We also aim to improve young people’s well-being by working on enhancing their self-esteem, confidence, and resilience by engaging them in a 12-week tailored programme.

The Onside team work with 8–16-year-olds on a one-to-one basis, allowing them to tailor the sessions to their own hobbies, interests, and skillset. There is also the opportunity for family members to join in on these sessions to help promote a positive, long-term support.

"We saw his confidence grow and his love of football return. He began to believe he could do things again. As a family it was a glimmer of hope."
