Families from across Norwich City Community Sports Foundation’s programmes enjoyed a truly unforgettable Wish Day on Saturday 19 May, with a wonderful behind‑the‑scenes experience at the football club’s first‑team training ground.
Guests were invited by the club and the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation to the Avant Training Ground for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the players train up close. Despite rain being forecast, the sun shone on the day, adding to the special atmosphere as families got to experience a Norwich City training session from pitch side.
With the end of the season approaching, there was a relaxed feel throughout, as players laughed, joked and interacted with one another during training – giving guests a unique glimpse into life behind the scenes.
After training, players spent time meeting families, chatting, posing for selfies and signing items, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
The day continued with guests enjoying a delicious meal in the first‑team dining room, offering a chance to ‘live like a footballer’ and completing a truly special experience.
Emma Fletcher-Dungay, Head of Fundraising at Norwich City Community Sports Foundation said:
“This is what Wish Days are all about, creating moments of connection for people who are going through incredibly difficult circumstances. Seeing families enjoying something special together, making memories and feeling part of the club is incredibly powerful. We’re so grateful to the players and staff for giving their time so generously to help make days like this happen.”
Wish Days are designed to provide unforgettable moments for those facing challenging circumstances, including individuals living with disabilities, serious illnesses or bereavement. These experiences offer a chance to step away from daily challenges, connect with others and create positive, lasting memories in a supportive environment at the club they love.
Each Wish Day is carefully planned to give participants unique access to Norwich City Football Club, with opportunities to meet players, explore behind the scenes and feel part of the club.
