Fixtures galore for over 250 players from 28 local teams

With many teams enjoying a free weekend in the local league calendar, the Community Sports Foundation hosted a football festival for U7 and U8 grassroot teams at The Nest on Sunday.

Over 250 players from 28 teams took part with a non-competitive 5v5 format that emphasised fun and development.

With The Nest hosting the Foundation’s Summer Cup for the first time earlier this year, Sunday’s festival showed off the venue’s capacity to host high-quality football tournaments on a smaller scale.

Lewis Plowman, CSF Football Operations Manager said:

“It was a brilliant day at The Nest.  It gave teams the opportunity to play against a variety of teams who they may not normally face in their regular league. Despite a little October rain, the players had smiles on their faces all day, with some excellent football played.

“We look forward to utilising the excellent facilities at The Nest for festivals and tournaments like this in the future.”

"The staff and whole event was held to a great standard…the lads really enjoyed it."
