Last week The Nest welcomed girls’ CCO teams from our Foundation couterparts across the country for our Canary Cup, sponsored by MH Goals.
The Thursday saw the U10 and U14 age groups take to the turf, with a series of end-to-end matches eventually resulting in Brighton edging out a spirited Wolverhampton Wanderers side in the U10 competition. The midlands side went one better in the U14 tournament, beating Devon FA on penalties to secure the silverware.
The following day saw a host of new teams arrive at The Nest, ready to go toe to toe in a bid to secure the Canary Cup title. There was some excellent football all around, but ultimately it was Wolves and Devon FA who battled out in the U12 final, with the latter prevailing after yet another penalty shootout. However, Wolves did claim their second title of the two-day event, edging out our very own Norwich City 2-0 in a closely-contested U16 final.
Everyone at the Community Sports Foundation would like to say thank you to the following teams for attending 2024’s Girls’ Canary Cup:
Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation, Cambridge United Foundation, Colchester United Community Foundation, Devon FA, Nottingham Forest Community Trust, Peterborough United Foundation, Wolves Foundation
