On Monday 19th August, there was a surprise visit at The Nest. Children on our three-day goalkeeper residential (sponsored by uhlsport) couldn’t hide their excitement at the sight of Norwich City first-teamers Angus Gunn, George Long, Dan Barden and Archie Mair awaiting them on the 3G pitches.
Joined by Canaries Goalkeeper Coach Paul Clements, the Canaries quartet were on hand to help deliver a specialist goalkeeping coaching session to the participants, working on a range of different skills, such as catching, reflexes and positioning.
Our young ‘keepers were split into four groups, with each group being joined by one of the City players. The Norwich shot-stoppers were on hand to help assist with demonstrations, also taking time to give the awe-struck participants some one-on-one advice.
At the end of the session, two of the standout young goalkeepers were given new pairs of uhlsport gloves as a prize, before Gunn, Long, Barden and Mair took some time to answer a broad range of questions about their personal playing careers and life as a professional goalkeeper. Before departing The Nest, the City players also stopped to take photos with our lucky participants.
The Foundation would like to share another huge thank you to event sponsors, uhlsport, who kindly supplied every young goalkeeper with a new pair of uhlsport gloves.
