Armed Forces Day 2026

Armed Forces Day 2026 at The Nest brought together serving personnel, veterans, families, and supporters from across Norfolk for a celebration of the Armed Forces community.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk, Lady Phillippa Dannatt, and General The Right Honourable The Lord Dannatt attended the event, meeting members of the Armed Forces community throughout the morning and taking time to inspect the parade.

The parade stepped off at 11:30am, led by the City of Norwich Pipe Band, drawing people along the route as veterans and serving personnel marched behind the pipes and drums.

Across the afternoon, the Forces2Canaries Walking Football Exhibition Tournament took place, with over 50 players taking part in a brilliant showcase of inclusive sport.

Military vehicles – including a Jaguar fighter cockpit – were on display, while the Rolling Thunder UK Veteran Bikers added to the atmosphere. Local military organisations hosted stalls with information and activities, and families enjoyed face painting and the dedicated kids’ area.

The Simple Slice Pizza Co, The Bucket List, and Broadland Bars also joined us throughout the day, keeping visitors refreshed in the warm weather.

“It was great to welcome so many familiar and new faces to Armed Forces Day at The Nest,” explained the Foundation’s Community Project Manager, Tom Bardwell-Doughty.

“As we continue to deepen our roots within the community, being able to speak to servicemen and women as well as veterans and their families was a valuable opportunity to listen and better understand the challenges they face as we increase our community offering.

“We hope to engage with even more people across the county over the next 12 months with a new dedicated member of staff – watch this space.”
