A day to remember at Royal Norwich Golf Courses

On Thursday 24 September, a group of avid golfers came together at Royal Norwich for another fantastic Norwich City Golf Day, raising vital funds to support the Community Sports Foundation’s charitable work across Norfolk.

A crisp and clear autumn day, conditions could hardly have been better as the fifteen teams took to the course for a the full 18-holes on the immaculate playing surfaces of Royal Norwich.

This year’s event saw Norwich City legend Wes Hoolahan go head-to-head with Norwich City Sporting Director, Ben Knapper, as the two team captains.

Former Norwich City players Adam Drury and Darren Eadie were also present on-site, cheering our teams on!

Each of the fifteen teams were made up of four players, with the field split between Team Hoolahan and Team Knapper, adding an extra element of friendly rivalry to the day’s proceedings.

As well as competing for the overall honours, players had plenty of opportunities to test their golfing skillsets out around the course, with a number of individual competitions and tests taking place out on the greens throughout the day.

Following the conclusion of the 18 holes, players returned to the clubhouse to enjoy a well-earned BBQ meal and drinks at the bar.

The day was rounded off with a closing ceremony, where prizes were presented for individual challenges including Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, alongside several other awards recognising performances from across the course.

Team Knapper also secured the major silverware for the day, edging out Team Wes by a single point!

A raffle and live auction gave guests further opportunities to get involved and help raise funds for the Foundation.

The money raised through this year’s Golf Day will once again help support our work with people across Norfolk, using the power of sport to support and inspire the local community.

Foundation Head of Fundraising Emma Fletcher-Dungay was full of praise for this year’s Golf Day:

“Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Norwich City Golf Day, and to all our wonderful hole sponsors who contributed on the day. We are already making plans for next year!”

Thanks

A big thank you goes to Lavish Life Competitions and the Southeast Coast Coffee Company for being our competition hole sponsors for this year’s event.
