Jeremy Goss joins veterans at Coffee & Comrades

Norwich City legend and club ambassador Jeremy Goss made a special appearance at the Foundation’s August Coffee & Comrades session – our monthly programme for veterans and their families to come together, connect, and share stories over a brew.

Supported by Norse and Green Farm Coffee, the free drop‑in runs on the last Friday of every month, from 10am–12pm at The Nest, complete with free hot drinks and bacon rolls. Sessions often feature guest speakers from across the armed forces community and veteran support agencies, giving veterans the chance to share experiences, enjoy conversation, and spend time together in a supportive environment.  

On Friday 28th August, attendees were joined by Jeremy, who spent more than a decade at Carrow Road, making his debut in 1984 and going on to record 188 appearances up to 1996. He remains a fan favourite for one of the most iconic moments in club history – his unforgettable strike during the Canaries’ UEFA Cup win at Bayern Munich in 1993. 

Alongside his achievements on the pitch, Jeremy is a proud member of Forces2Canaries. Born in Cyprus while his father served in the British Army, he has long‑standing ties to the armed forces community. 

During the session, Jeremy spoke about his childhood, his father’s service in the Gloucestershire Regiment, and the resilience that shaped both his life and football career. He then spent time chatting with veterans and their families, sharing stories and listening to their experiences. 

“It was fantastic coming to Coffee & Comrades and meeting members of the armed forces community,” explained Jeremy after the session. 

“It was lovely to spend time with everyone, share a few stories from my career, and reflect on my own family’s connection to the military. My dad served in the Gloucestershire Regiment for most of his life. I was born in Cyprus in a British military hospital, and that allowed me to eventually represent Wales at international level. 

“Any military individual will tell you it’s about resilience – never giving up on what you want to achieve. That’s something my father passed on to me, and it certainly helped me stick at football. His motto was always about not letting anyone down, and I’ve tried my best to carry that with me throughout my career. 

“This programme is really important. What the Foundation does to encourage veterans, their families and the wider armed forces community to come together is quite exceptional. Sharing experiences over a coffee creates real enthusiasm and connection. It was a pleasure to visit the session, and it meant a lot to speak with veterans who’ve had similar experiences to my own family.”

The next Coffee & Comrades session takes place on Friday 25th September, 10am–12pm, at The Nest. Veterans and their families are welcome to drop in, enjoy a free hot drink and bacon roll, and spend time with others in a warm, welcoming environment.
