On Saturday 9th September 2023, 30 fearless walkers conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks in what can only be described as an unseasonably warm September weekend.
The walkers took on three of Yorkshire’s tallest and most renowned peaks; Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m), aiming to complete the 24-mile route in under 12 hours. Despite the unprecedentedly high temperatures, all 30 walkers were able to do just that, triumphing over the peaks in the targeted time.
Teams consisted of Norwich City Football Club, Community Sports Foundation and NPS representatives, who collectively raised an incredible £7,500 for their efforts.
Head of Fundraising Emma Fletcher-Dungay said:
“A massive well-done to all our walkers who took on the challenge in what was very difficult conditions and completing it within the 12 hour target.
“The money they have raised is fantastic and will continue to help us support disabled and disadvantaged people in Norfolk.
“Thank you to our team of volunteers who supported them on the mountains and at the rest stops, these events just couldn’t take place without them.”
Finally, a special thank you to Coastal Constructions who sponsor the Challenge events, Norfolk Hire who sponsor the Fundraising Team and Sally from Up and Running Treatments.
