Last week, Norwich City Academy U18 players Jack Ruddy, Niko Tkaczuk and Jeremiah Sinclair-Brown joined the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation at two of our community programmes, Duncan’s Club and Team Talk.
At Duncan’s Club, the players spent time with people living with dementia, helping to create a warm and supportive atmosphere. They took part in a quiz, joined chair‑based exercises, and even played a game of Hangman while engaging with participants.
The players also visited Team Talk, a programme built around walking football that supports participants and their mental wellbeing through conversation, activity and connection.
“It was great to have several Academy players and staff at our community sessions at The Nest last week,” said Tom Bardwell-Doughty, Community Project Manager.
“They got to see a range of sessions that positively impact people all year round. It was a great experience for our participants, taking part in activities alongside them, but it was also a brilliant opportunity for the players to learn and meet new people.
“It was fantastic to see the young players bond with Duncan’s Club participants, our support programme for people with dementia, before going outside and joining in with Team Talk.
“Jack, Niko and Jeremiah really threw themselves into both programmes, which are geared towards improving physical and mental wellbeing. Everyone had a fantastic time, and we’d like to thank the Academy for their support.”

Duncan’s Club, our support programme for people with dementia, is a 90-minute session every Thursday morning and afternoon at The Nest, in Horsford. It is the only weekly session of its kind for people in Norfolk with dementia.
Find Out MoreTeam Talk gives adults the chance to benefit from free weekly football, followed by a friendly and supportive social session. The initiative helps provide a friendly support group for its participants and to give them an outlet from day to day stresses, as well as being a great way to stay physically healthy and fit through football.
