Inspiration Day welcomes pupils to Norwich City FC
Young students from three local high schools visited Carrow Road last Monday to attend an Inspiration Day as part of the Premier League Enterprise programme, which is delivered by the Community Sports Foundation (CSF).
Over 130 pupils attended a series of workshops delivered by key CSF and Norwich City Football Club staff where they learnt about advertising and fundraising techniques, event management and the importance of planning.
The Enterprise programme, which is supported by Aviva, gives students the opportunity to organise, prepare and run a fundraising event.
The workshop content at the Inspiration Day aimed to expand the pupils’ business knowledge and put them in touch with the day to day running of Norwich City FC, giving them the opportunity to think more widely about their own event.
There was a self-reflective workshop in which students were encouraged to develop a wide range of life skills such as decision making, problem solving and collaborative working.
Students also enjoyed an all-access stadium tour where they got to visit the players tunnel, go pitch side and see the changing rooms and the trophy cabinet.
The day concluded with a Q&A session in the Norfolk Lounge hosted by Stephen Balmer-Walters, Head of Community Engagement at Norwich City FC, which gave pupils a brilliant opportunity to ask questions about the football club.
Mark Woodcock, CSF PL Enterprise Coordinator reflected after the event:
“All of the skills learnt throughout the workshops will help build their confidence and be useful to them when organising their events, as well as in their future employment.
We really hope the students have been inspired today.”
This was the third Inspiration Day this year, following the success of the pilot event in February which saw David McNally attend a Q&A session with pupils.
