The ninth On the Buzzer, City! Quiz returned to Carrow Road last night, with 39 teams of six competing for quiz glory.
Welcomed with a Star Wars-themed intro video, returning hosts BBC Radio’s Rob Butler and ex-Canary Adrian Forbes led the teams through ten rounds of competitive quizzing action.
Norwich City FC’s Max Aarons chipped in with a number of recorded video questions, with rounds covering sport, general knowledge, geography, history, music, current affairs, film & tv and more.
With just five points separating the top 12 going into the final round, and with the winners from the previous three quizzes all in the hunt, it was set for a dramatic finish.
But proving they were anything but, it was ‘The Muppets’ who took their first On the Buzzer, City win pipping last year’s champions Forces2Canaries by a single point.
Their prize haul included six Norwich City FC tickets for the Wolves fixture, a personalised Norwich City FC shirt, and of course, the honour of lifting the famous quiz trophy.
A balloon raffle, auction and head ‘n’ tails round helped bring the total from the evening raised to £2,800, which will be matched by Norwich City FC as part of the ongoing #BuildTheNest fundraising campaign, making a grand total of £5,600.
Many thanks to hosts Rob Butler and Adrian Forbes, who gave their time up for free to host the evening.
Prizes were kindly donated by a variety of supporters including Norwich City FC, Sea Life, Nike Store Riverside, Cafe2U, Riverside Leisure Centre, Bucket List Cromer, Krispy Kreme, Five Guys, Barkers, ROARR! Dinosaur Adventure, Asda, Leveridges, Barrett & Co, M&S, Erpingham House and Tescos.
