The fitness and social sessions take place on Wednesdays
The Community Sports Foundation is opening up its Extra Time online sessions for the over 55s to all for free over the remainder of the national lockdown.
Consisting of a morning exercise class and an afternoon social hour every Wednesday (via Zoom), participants are welcome to join one or both the sessions.
The movement sessions are led by a qualified personal trainer, while the social hour includes quizzes, group chat, and – once a month – guest speakers.
Often with a Norwich City FC or sports angle, previous guest speakers have included Zoe Ward, Simon Lappin and Paralympian Jessica-Jane Applegate. Foundation trustee and retired sports writer and broadcaster Mick Dennis will be the guest speaker at the session on the 27th January.
Joe Harvey, the Foundation’s Community Engagement Officer, said:
“At a time when it’s so important our older generations stay active physically and socially connected, we really pleased to be able to remove the cost of the sessions and open them to all.”
He continued:
“The split sessions means participants can work up a sweat with us in the morning with some easy-to-do exercises, before enjoying a quiz over a cuppa in the afternoon.
“We’ve got a great friendly bunch of Extra Time participants at the moment, who would love to welcome some new faces, I’m sure.”
The sessions are available thanks to funding from the Norfolk Community Foundation, and you can sign up here.
