Fans Game at Carrow Road raises £5800

Last week saw 66 Norwich City fans take part in three fundraising fixtures at Carrow Road stadium.

The event was organised in collaboration with long-time Norwich City fan and serial fundraiser, Lee Clark, who has recently achieved a fundraising milestone of £250,000 raised for various charities over the past 16 years.

The event was the third iteration of the ‘Fans Game’ at the stadium in what s becoming an annual celebration of fan-led fundraising events.

Three 45-minute fixtures were played between six teams in front of a respectable 150 attendees situated in the Geoffrey Watling stand. Former Norwich City player, Adam Drury was in attendance and even graced the turf during the first game.

Between the second and third fixtures, a moment was taken to celebrate the work of Lee Clark as he was presented with a Norwich City home shirt with his lifelong fundraising sum of £250,000 printed on the back.

Enjoying a stint both in goal and outfield, Lee was able to cap the celebratory day off with a tidy finish in front of the Barclay in game one, wheeling away with an Alan Shearer-esque celebration.

Thanks

Thank you to the officials; Jack and Steve Luxon, Tony Collins, and Carl Thomson, who travelled from Somerset to officiate for free.

We would also like to thank the participating fans who raised a collective £5800 for the fixtures – the most raised to date from all three fan games!

Senior Fundraising and Events Manager, Emma Fletcher-Dungay said:

“Thank you to everyone who paid to play today and supported the event.

“What another fantastic day and opportunity for the fans to play at Carrow Road – the weather was amazing and some of the goals and saves were another level!

“Thanks to Lee who continues to support us and congratulations on achieving a fantastic milestone in terms of money raised for so many charities.”

Lee stated:

“Thank you to Norwich City Football club for allowing us to play on the pitch and to the team at the Foundation who have been supportive in organising the event and making it special on the day for the fans taking part.

“To see so many fans with smiles on their faces, it clearly shows how much it means to them to play at Carrow Road.

“Thank you to the supporters who also played their part, cheering on their families – it was lovely to see the banners that you made.

“Finally, thank you everyone who has supported me on my fundraising journey so far and who continue to support me. The money I raise is because of you! Result never maters, the charity are the winners.”
