The Nest welcomed six Down Syndrome football teams for a vibrant and memorable tournament delivered by Norwich City Community Sports Foundation in February.
With two Norwich teams, two from North London United representing Arsenal, and visiting sides from Derby and Ipswich, the day brought together 36 players for a celebration of football and inclusive sport.
Derby proved the standout performers, winning all but their final game to take home the tournament title. Norwich’s two teams showed great spirit across the day, with the B team collecting six points and the A team battling hard in every fixture. Among the many individual highlights, Norwich goalkeeper Faith delivered a string of brilliant saves that drew applause from players, coaches and spectators.
Disability Sports Manager, James Fish said: “Today showed exactly what inclusive football is all about. The players gave everything and really enjoyed themselves, and the sense of joy around the pitches was something special. We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part.”
