Corporate Cup 2023 - Recap

Thursday 11th of May saw the second annual Corporate Cup take place at The Nest.

23 teams arrived, primed and ready for a spirited but competitive outing that would ultimately crown one company the six-a-side champions of Norfolk.

Crashes of thunder and flashes of lightning would throw a spanner in the works, disrupting the planned kick-off time of 12:30 for over an hour – as players eagerly paced around The Nest café and Inspire space.

Finally, clouds dispersed, and football proceeded with the goal simple – the top two in the group go through to the knockout stages, and the rest will watch on from the sidelines.

The standard was high from the off. Pink Office raised eyebrows with an exhibition of one-touch passing, skills, and goals whilst others focussed on the fundamentals with rigid defensive displays to remain competitive.

The group stages would go down to the wire, with a number of sides fighting for qualification until the very last whistle. Ultimately it would be Pink Office, Yellow Brick Mortgages, Leathes Prior, A47 RDP, Larking Gowen, Coder Agency, CSF Yellows and East Anglia Brickwork who would progress to the knockout stages.

It was heartbreak for our own CSF Yellows in the quarterfinals, as East Anglia Brickwork prevailed on penalties, with Pink Office, Larking Gowen and A47 RDP also joining them in the final four.

Ultimately Pink Office meet Larking Gowen in the final.

Hundreds gathered for the closing game of the tournament. It was drama from the off as Larking Gowen looked keen to cause upset, a looked as if they were going to do just that. The underdogs took a 2-1 lead into the latter stages of the game before Pink Office shifted up another gear to grab two late goals and ultimately the Corporate Cup 2023 title.

Thank you to our event sponsors, Coder Agency and Yellow Brick Mortgages for supporting the event, and a further thanks to all participating teams who joined us on the day for a festival of football – your participation in this event helped the Community Sports Foundation raise an incredible £4500!

This money raised will go towards supporting the Foundation’s work with disabled people across Norfolk.
