Surprise treat for local pupils as City stars visit

Children at four CSF partner schools across Norfolk received a special surprise this Autumn, when they were visited by Norwich City FC players.

Graham Dorrans, Alex Pritchard and Sebastien Bassong visited Great Witchingham Primary AcademySparhawk Infant & Nursery School and Hethersett Junior School respectively whilst City youngsters Todd Cantwell and Ben Godfrey spent an afternoon at Northgate High School.

The stars took the time to meet the pupils, giving the children some top tips and sharing some of their favourite moments on the pitch.

“It’s been good to come along and talk to the kids.” said midfielder Dorrans.

“I’ve been going around the classrooms speaking to them and watching them do some training outside. You see how excited they are when someone comes in from their local club so it’s really nice.

“This is part of what we do as footballers, coming out to speak to the kids. It’s great to be helping them in these sessions and you can see how much enjoyment they get from it.”

In Dereham, City duo Todd Cantwell and Ben Godfrey officially opened Northgate High School’s new dance studio and third generation (3G) pitch.

“Visits like this are so exciting for the pupils.” said Joe Harvey, CSF Schools Development Officer. “It is great to see their faces light up and something that they will always remember.”

“A huge thank you to all the players for coming down and joining in with the sessions.”

Each week, CSF delivers PE lessons to 65 schools in the region, with over 10,000 pupils aged 5-11 years-old participating in those sessions.

The Foundation also provide over 100 extra-curricular clubs a week to give pupils the opportunity of additional sporting activities after school finishes.
