Yellows clinch title following brilliant season

Norwich City’s Powerchair football team have clinched the Wheelchair Football Association (WFA) South East Division 2 title following an unbeaten season.

The squad finished first place in the league after securing a 1-0 win against Sevenoaks Development in the final round of fixtures held at Hatfield University last month.

The successful 12-game campaign ended with the team registering 11 wins and 1 draw, finishing 16 points clear of their nearest rivals.

The season has seen some very competitive performances from both experienced and new players.

City player Johann (pictured above, bottom left) finished as the division’s top scorer and also received the Golden Boot award.

“We’re so proud to be going up to the first division as champions,” said CSF Disability Development Manager Darren Hunter.

“To remain undefeated was something really special and the squad deserve every credit for their dedication and determination.”

Furthermore, Norwich City’s development powerchair squad ‘The Canaries’ were rewarded with the Fair Play Award having displayed good commitment and attitude throughout the season.

The team finished third in Division 3 – an impressive finish for their first full season in the regional league.

The Community Sports Foundation (CSF) part-fund and support the Powerchair team, who train on Fridays 6–8pm at City Academy, Norwich.
