Since May 2021, our Refugee Football Programme has been creating a safe, inclusive, and joyful space for refugees and asylum seekers of all ages and backgrounds to come together through the power of sport.
Whether participants are new to football, speak limited English, or are seasoned players, everyone is welcome. Our sessions are designed to be fun, friendly, and accessible, with games, challenges, and matches led by qualified FA coaches who are passionate about creating a positive experience for all.
Fresh Start is aimed at supporting refugees, asylum seekers and their families in Norfolk, through free weekly football sessions at Carrow Park, our facility next to Carrow Road.

Football is more than just a sport — it’s a powerful tool for connection. Our programme offers:
Each week, participants enjoy a free hour of football supported by dedicated coaches and volunteers. In 2024, we expanded our impact by hosting a lively Cricket and Football Festival, in collaboration with local groups like New Routes and Norwich International Youth Project, who brought their youth club to join the celebration.
Participants can either have refugee status, be currently seeking asylum or living within the host family environment.

Whatever their ability level or confidence with the English language, participants can enjoy football in a friendly and inclusive setting, with fun games, challenges and matches all led by qualified FA coaches.
"I’ve met lots of good people since coming here, and have had lots of moments that have made me laugh and smile but it’s the football that stands out above all to me as my favourite part of the programme, simply because I get a real sense of fulfilment whenever I pull on my boots at the start of the evening.
