Ukrainian refugees and their host families enjoy fun-day at The Nest
On Saturday, 30th of July, Ukrainian refugees and their host families enjoyed a fun day of activities at The Nest, hosted by the Foundation.
Over 110 visitors joined to take on the Challenge Woods and play an Olympic-style selection of sports, including an egg-and-spoon race, sack race, tennis and rope pulling.
In addition to this, The Nest offered an array of extra-curricular activities.
Participants enjoyed a specially installed selfie booth, arts and crafts sessions, and English and poetry lessons for all ages, which were assisted by translators.
The Clubhouse was also open for its usual fun of pool, table tennis and plenty of games on The Nest’s new PlayStation 5.

Head of Curriculum and Event Coordinator, Stevie Bramble stated,
“The day was designed to provide a safe environment and a real ‘Welcome to Norfolk’ experience.
“The level of resilience shown by these young people is incredible and to see so many smiles at the event was truly rewarding.”
Simon Routhorn of Adult Learning added,
“It was great to be able to work with the Ukrainian families on a range of activities including reading, speaking and arts and crafts.
“We look forward to providing further opportunities to support.”
The Foundation will now be providing ongoing weekly sessions for the group via our other funded opportunities.
