CSF walking football player selected to represent Three Lions
CSF walking football player Simon Sheppard has been named in the England Over 50s squad.
The 53 year old was selected, along with 19 other players, for the international game against Italy, held at Brighton’s Amex Stadium last Sunday.
Though he didn’t travel to Brighton with the squad, the former RAF Senior Aircraftsman is keen to represent his country when the opportunity arises.
He said:
“Being involved with the Foundation has really improved the standard of my football. We have some good players here and that level of quality has definitely helped me raise my game.
“Just to be selected is an amazing achievement for me and my aim now is to wear that England shirt when I have that chance. To do that in any sport and at whatever age is an absolute honour.”
Simon (pictured below, top left) has been involved with the Foundation’s walking football programme since it was launched in January 2017.

Throughout his life, he has always shown a keen interest in football, playing the game regularly himself and also coaching his son’s grassroots youth team.
Meanwhile, the Foundation’s Over 60s walking football squad (pictured below) travelled to Luton on Saturday to take part in the EFL Trust Cup regional finals.
The team finished up as Champions for the South East, having won all six of their games, and have secured a visit to St George’s Park for the finals in July.

If you wish to get involved, walking football sessions run:
Wednesdays – 8.00pm-9.00pm – Carrow Park
Fridays – 10.00am-11.30am – Carrow Park.
