The Summer Cup returned in glorious fashion last weekend, as over 60 teams and around 500 players joined us for two days of footballing festivities held at The Nest.
A celebratory and supportive atmosphere from the spectators and coaches alike, boosted the young players as they served up some entertaining and well-contested fixtures beneath the beaming sunshine.
For many of the teams in the youngest age category, this was their first taste of festival football – with some playing their first ever matches.
The tournament saw six age groups competing, with U7s, 9s and 11s playing on the Saturday, and U8s, 10s and 12s on the Sunday.
While the action on the pitch continued to entertain, visitors were able to enjoy burgers, baguettes, and an assortment of refreshments courtesy of The Nest’s fantastic catering team.
Chris Ninham, the Foundation’s Football Operations Manager said:
“It was fantastic to see so many local teams here at The Nest across the weekend.
“All of the players, coaches and spectators created a fantastic atmosphere, with some exceptional sportsmanship on show throughout each day! We can’t wait to do it all again in 2023!”

"Our team really enjoyed the Summer Cup - really close matches, super referees and all round brilliant organisation. They even had a physio checking on any injuries. We will definitely be booking again next year!"
