Close to 100 girls, aged between eight and 16, enjoyed a football festival at The Nest on Sunday morning.
With the Lionesses taking centre stage at Carrow Road in the afternoon, the all-female Foundation coaching team put on the free 90-minute session in the morning to help kick off the party early.
On The Nest’s Norfolk Hire Arena pitch, accompanied by a booming soundtrack, dribbling, shooting and mini-matches gave the young footballers the chance to channel their inner Lauren Hemp – the England and Manchester City ace, who herself progressed through the Foundation’s footballing pathway as a youngster.
Joining in with the fun were players from Norwich City Women FC including captain Millie Daviss, Leilah Gooding, Summer Copland, Ellie Bishop, Ellie Hambrook, Jess Harper, Anna Larkins and Jodie Drake.
Megan Todd, the Foundation Girls’ & Women’s Football Development Manager, who led the event, said:
“It was so good to see so many young female footballers of all abilities and backgrounds taking part in the session.
“Many of our coaches and City players were themselves once participants in our football pathway and it was great to see them inspiring the next generation.
“A big thank you to the players from Norwich City Women FC for giving up their own time to come down to the session.”
