Cheque to be presented at Aston Villa game for over £60,000
The Sporting Light Appeal and Sellebrity Soccer are delighted to announce that Jamie’s Game raised £60,602 to help disadvantaged and disabled people in Norfolk to enjoy the benefits of sport.
A host of celebrities descended on Carrow Road in May for the game, which finished 8-7 to the team captained by CSF Ambassador Jake Humphrey, in front of a crowd of nearly 8,000.
The Appeal and former player Darren Eadie’s Sellebrity Soccer worked in partnership to arrange the event with the support of Norwich City Football Club and it produced a memorable night that created great awareness of the Appeal’s work in addition to the money that was raised.
At half time during Saturday’s home fixture with Aston Villa, Darren Eadie and CSF Junior Ambassador Jamie Abbott, after whom the game was named, presented a cheque for the money raised, in front of the home crowd.
CSF Director Ian Thornton said:
“Jamie’s Game was the biggest event we have put on since the Appeal started and everyone in attendance will agree that it was a fantastic night.
“I would like to thank all the celebrities that came along to play and to all the people that bought a ticket and showed their support in impressive numbers.
“We now have the task of using the money brought in to provide sporting opportunities for those in Norfolk who really need our help and we look forward to reporting on the difference the money has made.”
