Driving Inclusion for People with Disabilities:

The Foundation takes pride in creating inclusive environments and sensory-friendly spaces that meet the needs of people with disabilities so they too can enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits of sports.

Spotlight on: Jack Stacey

Our disability football provisions continued to thrive in 2024, which the Cerebral Palsy Football team achieving a Cerebral Palsy National League and FA Disability Cup double, whilst our Powerchair Football team achieved promotion to the WFA Premiership via an enthralling play-off clash.

However, it’s our Realising Potential group who have had the most to smile about in 2024, making a new friend in the form of a very recognisable face. In early 2024, Norwich City fullback Jack Stacey began volunteering on a Tuesday night at The Nest. Fast-forward a year and he continues to join our pan-disability football team and Realising Potential group every available Wednesday to play games, lead football session and continue to be a role model.

Boosting Mental Health and Wellbeing

As Norwich City continues to champion positive mental health, the Foundation continues to develop programmes aimed at helping those who are struggling by using the social and physical benefits of sport to improve mental health and physical wellbeing.

Spotlight on: Dads United

We pride ourselves on championing mental and physical wellbeing across all ages, background and demographics. In early 2024, we spotted a gap in our provision: new and expectant fathers.

Dads United now welcomes upwards of 30 attendees to The Nest each Wednesday, to not only play small-sided football, but also to talk about the trials and tribulations of fatherhood, with the help of supporting professionals and mental health first-aiders.

Inspiring Disadvantaged People

School exclusions, crime and anti-social behaviour can be areas of struggle for our hardest-to-reach participants. Norwich City is a powerful tool for engaging inspiring these young people to raise their aspirations and reach their potential.

Spotlight on: Tackle Learning

Last year the Foundation launched an alternative provision called Tackle Learning. Tackle Learning aims to raise the aspirations of those who are having difficulties in mainstream education for reasons varying from additional needs to behavioural issues.

Riley was one of our first students enrolled on the programme and during his 12 weeks his progress was incredible. Watch Riley’s story.

Engaging Our Community

On top of our charitable work, the Foundation offers a range of affordable programmes that provide community engagement and positive impact, such as our Schools Competitions Community Courses and Kids’ Courses.

Spotlight on: Play & Eat

We launched Play & Eat to offer a welcoming space for children and families to connect, play, and enjoy a nutritious meal together at The Nest.

Families can explore the Challenge Woods outdoor play area or enjoy a kickabout on our 3G football pitches—perfect for burning off energy and building friendships. Then everyone gathers for a freshly prepared, home-cooked dinner. At just £2 per child, Play & Eat is an affordable, enriching way to end the day with fun, food, and community

Run Norwich: bigger and better once again!

Run Norwich continues to be the Foundations biggest and best fundraising event each year, giving 8,500 runners to opportunity to achieve something incredible, whether this be taking on their first 10K, raising money for the Foundation, or supporting a charity close to their heart.

2024 saw 6,941 runners cross the finish line, with Junior Run Norwich runners also taking to a one-mile circuit for the very first time.

Fresh faces set fresh records with Jonathan Escalante-Phillips and Holly Archer smashed the all-time best times in their respective fields, with the latter going on to lead the line at the 2025 London Marathon in the women’s elite field.

With thanks to our amazing runners and partners, Run Norwich 2024 raised an incredible amount for the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, with all profits going towards the Foundation’s work with people with disabilities and additional needs.
