Midfielder visits Lynn Grove High School to launch partnership
Norwich City midfielder Alex Tettey visited Lynn Grove High School in Gorleston on Tuesday 11th March, to officially launch the school as a Community Sports Foundation (CSF) Community Hub.
The Canaries star joined students for a ‘Kicks’ session, one of the projects delivered for young people by CSF coaches at the school.
‘Kicks’ which is funded by the Premier League and money raised from the Foundation’s own fundraising arm the Sporting Light Appeal, consists of weekly sports activities and educational workshops for young people in the community.
Several special guests were also in attendance at the launch, including the Mayor of Great Yarmouth John Burroughs, Marie Hartley from Great Yarmouth Borough Council and the school’s Headteacher, Alison Mobbs.
Lynn Grove High School becomes the third CSF Community Hub to be launched after Northgate High School and Easton & Otley College, and will host a variety of programmes to engage the community and keep young people active.
In addition to the ‘Kicks’ project, young people will have the opportunity to take part in Olympic sports through the Premier League 4 Sport initiative, as well as building their CV and giving back to the community with the National Citizen Service scheme.
Gavin Coe from the Foundation said:
“We are delighted to have Lynn Grove High School on board as a Community Hub and expect the partnership to have a real impact on the community.
“It’s so important for young people in the area to have the opportunity to take part in activities like this and we use the power of Norwich City to engage with them and increase participation.”
