Father and son, Ken and Daniel Browning both attend Team Talk on a Thursday afternoon at The Nest.
Team Talk gives adults the opportunity to improve their physical activity by participating in free weekly football. The programme also aims to improve mental health, as each session is followed by a friendly and supportive social in The Nest café afterwards.
Ken and Daniel started attending the programme as it was something different to do together when they would otherwise spend their time indoors. They both soon realised that playing football together as father and son was something they both thoroughly enjoyed.
Ken told us, “I never thought I’d get the opportunity to play football with my son again after all these years”.
Daniel mirrored these thoughts, saying, “I love playing football and to do it alongside my dad is even better!”
Daniel continued, “my physical and mental well-being are improving – I have people I can talk to and relate to, which really helps”.
Both Ken and Daniel have greatly enjoyed the sessions since joining back in October with the group being incredibly friendly. They have both increased their social circles and have a new group of friends who offer invaluable support and understanding.
Ken couldn’t recommend it enough, stating, “the session gives me something to look forward to every week as they always make me feel good about myself. It’s the highlight of my week.”
