Youngsters celebrate their community work

The Community Sports Foundation (CSF) held its first National Citizen Service (NCS) Graduation of the year at Norwich City Football Club last night.

Over 200 young people who took part on the programme last October were invited to Carrow Road for a ceremony to reunite with their friends, collect certificates and celebrate their successes.

Speaking about their achievements, NCS Project Officer Paul Sykes said:

“The NCS experience has really benefited the participants, it looks great on their CV and will help with future career prospects such as applying for university places or job interviews.

“It’s been fantastic to have everyone together again for the Graduation ceremony. All the autumn graduates should be really proud of themselves.”

Teams of youngsters from schools and colleges across the Eastern region spent the Christmas build up designing and delivering social action projects in their local communities following a three night residential trip.

Participants completed over 30 voluntary hours each, organising and taking part in a variety of events including hair and beauty afternoons, Open Mic nights and sponsored indoor bike rides in amongst other things.

In Norwich, some of the participants made and provided care packages to St Martin’s Housing Trust while others spread some festive cheer, wrapping and donating over 200 presents for patients at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital Jenny Lind Children’s Ward.
