Six of Norwich City CSF’s Futsal scholars will get the opportunity to play in the iconic Copper Box Arena in London.
Tom Wright, Damon Cooper, Angus Mackie, Robert Turner, Bradley Fisher and Alex Jary will all make the trip to the Olympic Park in February.
The sixteen and seventeen year olds have all been called up to represent the South-East Regional Futsal Centre of Excellence in a series of exhibition matches.
The scholars will represent the South-East as they play fixtures against London, the East and the South-West.
Following their fixtures, the teams will get to watch the England futsal team in action as they take on Sweden.
The scholars were selected to represent their region after strong performances for Norwich City in the Football League Trust Futsal League.
As the Centre of Futsal Excellence feeds into the national team, the dream of one day representing the Three Lions at futsal isn’t too far away for the City scholars.
“It’s going to be a special day for us,” said goalkeeper Tom Wright. “The venue looks like an incredible place to play in and the chance to impress for the national team is a great opportunity.”
A seventh scholar, Tom Dade, has also been called up to the Regional Centre of Excellence and will travel down with the team as a non-playing participant.
The Norwich City A team currently sit in third in the South-East league with the B & C teams both top, and still unbeaten, in their respective divisions.
The Football League Trust Futsal programme gives 16-17 year olds the opportunity to study for a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport while undergoing an intensive futsal training programme.
The Norwich City scheme, which is run by CSF, has venues in both Great Yarmouth and Norwich.
