Martin, Gunn, and Ruddy get behind campaign
Three former Canaries have added their support for the Build The Nest campaign in recent weeks as fundraising continues for the second phase of construction.
Russell Martin, Angus Gunn, and John Ruddy sent video messages of support for the campaign, which is aiming to raise the final £1 million needed to complete construction at The Nest – our community hub in Horsford.
Former City defender Martin, who is currently the First Team Manager at MK Dons, was a big supporter of the Community Sports Foundation’s work during his time at Carrow Road, and donated a third of the proceeds raised from Team Russ v Team Wes – the fixture that celebrated the careers of Martin and Wes Hoolahan.
The two ex-Canary ‘keepers Gunn and Ruddy have each made generous donations to the #BuildTheNest campaign that will pay for pair of changing rooms in the new building.
The Nest is a multi-purpose community hub that has been designed to provide the ideal environment for the Foundation to address local issues such as social mobility, health and wellbeing, education and training, disability sports, and community cohesion, as well as providing facilities for grassroots football, sports participation, and events.
In addition, The Nest will become the new home for Norwich City Women FC.
The #BuildTheNest campaign was launched in October with the aim to raise the final £1 million needed for the second phase; Norwich City Football Club have pledged to match fund up to £500,000.
Since the campaign was launched, around £200,000 has been raised and match-funded by the Club, leaving the campaign currently £600,000 short of the £1 million target.
