Ormiston Denes Academy is first Suffolk-based CSF community hub

Today, the Community Sports Foundation (CSF) welcomed Ormiston Denes Academy as their latest and first Suffolk-based ‘Community Hub’.

Former Norwich City FC professional and Canaries Hall of Famer Adam Drury was the special guest, joining Academy staff and pupils as well as representatives from CSF for the formal proceedings of the launch.

The new ‘Hub’ status will see students benefit from a number of the Foundation’s programmes including Kicks and Premier League 4 Sport, which offers free weekly sports activities and educational workshops.

Other programmes available to the students include the National Citizen Service which provides young people with the opportunity to take part in residential camps and volunteering projects in their local communities.

Pupils had a taste of the programmes available at the launch, taking part in a Glow Kicks session and a CSF-led health workshop.

Vice Principal Tony Bown commented:

“We are delighted to be working closely with CSF, and proud to be the first Community Hub in Suffolk. We’re excited about the range of opportunities this will bring our students, and are happy to welcome the football club and the Foundation to our Academy.”

Stuart Aldous, Head of PE added:

“I think our students will greatly benefit from the enrichment activities on offer within our community, on their doorstep. I am proud to be part of putting the partnership together and I know every student deserves these opportunities provided to to be physically active, through high quality coaching, teaching and learning; a philosophy at the heart of our PE department.”

Ormiston Denes Academy joins Stalham High School, East Norfolk Sixth Form and Great Yarmouth High School as recent CSF Community Hubs, taking the total number to twelve in the Eastern region.

"We are delighted to be working closely with CSF, and proud to be the first Community Hub in Suffolk."
