Staff deliver interactive workshops to pupils at Ormiston Venture Academy
On Monday, teachers at Ormiston Venture Academy took a backseat as Year 10 pupils enjoyed a day of workshops, led by the Community Sports Foundation (CSF).
Over 110 students from the Gorleston school attended the sessions, delivered by CSF staff from a range of departments.
Dubbed ‘Take Over Day’, the off-curricular workshops gave the young people a chance to gain an insight into potential career and development paths, as well as learn more about the opportunities that are accessible to them as part of the Foundation’s close relationship with the school.
The one-hour workshops on the day included a session on the benefits of healthy eating, leadership and teamwork skills through the National Citizen Service, P.E. session planning with CSF Community Coaches, an enterprise challenge which asked students to think about the Norwich City FC fan experience, and a seminar about potential career pathways in the sports industry.
Toby Nickerson, CSF Sports Development Officer, who organised the ‘Take Over’ day, said afterwards:
“Our partnerships with local schools and community centres are at the forefront of our work in the local community.
“We hope the ‘Take Over Day’ gave the students a real insight into the charity and the work we do. We hope they took something valuable from each session and found the information useful at such a key time for them.”
Norwich City FC CEO David McNally helped the Foundation officially launch their partnership with the school earlier this year.
