Fundraisers join the Down's Syndrome team for a kickabout
With next month’s Credo Canaryball Rally looming on the horizon, some of the drivers dropped by the Nest to see first hand some of the Foundation’s work that they will be supporting.
The drivers all arrived in the cars that they will be taking on the 1,500-mile tour of Scotland and enjoyed a catch up, before heading over to The Nest’s Norfolk Hire Arena for a kick-about with the Foundation’s Down’s Syndrome footballers.
BBC Radio Norfolk’s Rob Butler was on hand to meet the teams and some of the participants and parents from the down’s syndrome group – listen to The Scrimmage podcast on BBC Sounds. (Canaryball Rally teams from 19 minutes, Down’s Syndrome from 47 minutes).
The Credo Canaryball Rally first took place in 2019 when 17 cars travelled over 2,200 miles in five days, calling in at the same three European cities that featured in Norwich City’s 1993 UEFA Cup run to the third round.
The inaugural rally raised over £75,000 for the Foundation’s Build The Nest campaign, while the 2022 edition, delayed by the covid-19 pandemic, will support the Foundation’s charitable programmes.
This year’s epic trip begins on the 19th April and completes a tour of Scotland that includes the famous North Coast 500. Over 20 teams are taking part and looking for sponsorship to boost the fundraising total.
