CSF youth tournament heading for eighteenth year
The Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) fun packed annual football tournament will return this weekend for its eighteenth year.
Once again Easton and Otley College will play host to over 200 local youth teams, who will battle it out for the 2017 Summer Cup silverware.
Last year’s tournament welcomed a record 2000 participants and 5000 spectators over the two days. City skipper Russell Martin also paid a visit to meet some of the young players, sign merchandise and pose for photographs.
This year, there will be fierce competition among the seven age groups who have entered, particularly from previous winners Old Catton JFC and Aylsham FC who have secured the U10 and U12 trophies respectively for two successive years.
Other previous winners include Gorleston Rangers who will be looking to retain their title, having won silverware at the tournament a total of 19 times and Taverham United who have seen eight Summer Cup victories since the Foundation’s debut event in 2000.
CSF Football Development Officer Dan Goffin commented:
“I’d like to say thank you to everyone in advance for supporting the event. We look forward to welcoming players, coaches and supporters both old and new this weekend.
“The Cup is an important recruitment tool for our Player Development programmes and we hope to see a lot of talented young footballers on display over the course of the two days.”
On Saturday, various CSF disability teams will take on their counterparts from Manchester City, Arsenal, Watford and MK Dons in a special mini football tournament.
Gates open at 9am Saturday and fixtures kick off from 10am.
Hot and cold drinks will be available throughout the day along with refreshments and football themed games for both players and spectators. So be sure to stop by if you fancy a go on our speed kick machine!
Norwich City FC’s brand new kit, which has been unveiled today, will also be available to purchase at the event this weekend.
