City sporting director explains what has inspired him to take part in the event this Sunday.

Norwich City’s sporting director will be among the 85 participants taking on the Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) second annual Mini Coastal Challenge this weekend.

At every club he’s worked at, Webber has been instrumental in shaping recruitment and the development of young players but has also shown a keen interest in helping the local community.

Having completed a fundraising event during his spell at Huddersfield Town as their Head of Football Operations, the 34 year old is looking forward to taking on a similar challenge here in Norfolk.

“Being an outsider, it’ll be good to explore the coast, see the area and meet some new people. It’s something a bit different, I enjoy walking and it’s always good to challenge yourself.”

“When I took part in the walking challenge at Huddersfield I woke up at 3am and walked 27 miles from Hillsborough to the John Smith Stadium before one of our fixtures. So when I heard about this event, I was keen to get involved and give it a go.”

The Mini Coastal Walk Challenge offers families the chance to share quality time together and make some special memories, while raising funds to help support disadvantaged and disabled people across Norfolk.

Webber has been impressed with the Foundation and the positive impact it has on the local community since his arrival:

“There are so many underprivileged people all over the globe but also on our doorstep. I’m lucky to work where I do at such a community-led Club, from the ownership down and I feel it’s our responsibility to help those less fortunate and utilise the Club as best we can to help others around it.

“There is a lot of good work that goes on and it’s sometimes hard to find the time to give something back but this challenge will give me the chance to do that and really get stuck in.”

All proceeds raised from the event will help CSF to reach a further 12,000 people a year, via The Nest, the Foundation’s exciting project to build a groundbreaking community sports facility to benefit people from all walks of life in Norwich and Norfolk.

Donate to Stuart’s fundraising total here and support those in need across the county.

The Foundation would like to wish the best of luck to those taking part in the challenge!
