Squads enjoy fixtures against Arsenal in the Community
On Tuesday, members of the Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) Adult Disability Player Development Centre (PDC) and walking football squad were among the large Norfolk contingent converging upon the capital for Norwich City FC’s Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal FC.
Guests of Arsenal in the Community for the day, the two teams got to first enjoy a series of friendly fixtures against their counterparts at the Islington Leisure Centre in North London.
Despite the long trip, the Canary sides both put in first-class performances – the Foundation’s Adult Disability PDC confidently dispatching the Gunners 6-0, with the walking football squad winning all three of their encounters.
Fixtures played, the group headed to the Emirates Stadium to join the mammoth 8,800 strong City crowd for the Norwich City FC and Arsenal FC fixture.
The teams were quick to soak up the pre-match atmosphere – posing for photos outside the home of the Gunners and exploring the club shop – before enjoying all 120-minutes of the pulsating cup tie.
CSF Disability Manager Darren Hunter accompanied the teams on the trip. He reflected:
“This has been a wonderful opportunity for both teams. You could really tell the group loved every minute of the trip. It is great to see first-hand how the money raised from our fundraisers is being spent.
“We can’t thank Arsenal in the Community enough for being such excellent hosts and for generously providing the teams with the match tickets.”
