Proposed dates for this year’s line-up of challenge events have been revealed

The Foundation hopes to be able to run five active challenge events this year, with one new event joining four returning favourites.

Fundraising from these events directly helps to fund a number of our programmes that work to support people with disabilities and people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The event dates are provisional subject to the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in the forthcoming months.

The ever-popular Coastal Walk Challenge has been running since 2011 and previously has seen over 100 walkers take part. This year there are two dates, with the second allowing walkers to take on shorter sections of the walk.

Alongside the returning Three Peaks and Hadrian’s Wall Challenges comes the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a new fixture in the Foundation’s event line-up.

Meanwhile Run Norwich has later date than usual in the hope that circumstances will allow for the event to go ahead with a sizeable field.

The proposed dates are:

Coastal Walk Challenge (47-mile) – 19th-20th June

Coastal Walk Challenge (47-mile, 22-miles, 12-mile, 6-mile) – 25th-26th June

Three Peaks Challenge – 8th-10th July

Yorkshire Three Peaks – 7th-8th August

Hadrian’s Wall Challenge – 26th–30th August

Run Norwich – 10th October

The Foundation’s Fundraising & Events Manager Emma Fletcher says:

“While the immediate priority is, of course, ensuring that we all do our part to aid the effort in defeating coronavirus, we wanted to get our proposed dates in people’s calendars. Having something to aim for is so important, and now is a great time to start training.

“We’ve moved our events into the second half of the year, in the hope that it will provide the best possible chance of them going ahead.

She continued: “Of course, we’ll only be running the events if permitted, and we’ll be undertaking rigorous additional Covid-19 risk assessments to ensure that they are as safe as possible.”

Entry for these events (with the exception of Run Norwich) is now open. All entry fees will be fully refunded in the event of cancellations.
