Hoolahan and Martin Turn Out For Sporting Light Appeal

City Stars Join Robert Kett Junior School Sportathon Jump

Norwich City first team players Wes Hoolahan and Russell Martin spent Tuesday afternoon taking part in the Community Sports Foundation’s Sporting Light Sportathon at Robert Kett Junior School.

The fundraising events taking place this week sees different groups travel the distance from Norwich City FC to the Olympic Stadium 174km (108miles) each day using a variety of sporting skills.

Wes and Russell helped 600 pupils jump their 174km in brilliant sunshine on the playing field.

The players were thrilled with their reception from the children as Wes explained: “We got an amazing cheer from the kids when we arrived which was nice. I’m glad we could join in with the Sportathon to help out and hopefully the Sporting Light Appeal will reach its target.”

Day two of the Sporting Light Sportathon was kindly sponsored by Larking Gowen Chartered Accountants.

The Sporting Light Appeal aims to raise £50, 000 to support the foundation’s disability programmes following a cut in funding.

Emma Fletcher, Fundraising Team said: “We would like to thank all our sponsors, schools and participants who have agreed to get involved in the Sportathon, it will continue to be a great week with over 1,000 people getting involved and hopefully raising lots of money."

The Sportathon week continues on Wednesday as Norwich City legend Craig Fleming joins the CSF Extra Time group as they walk around the Carrow Road pitch; sponsored by Leathes Prior Solicitors.

There are lots of different ways you can get involved in fund-raising for the appeal – if you can help in any way please visit the Sporting Light page.
