Coastal walkers raise thousands

Fundraisers take part in sixth annual challenge

Eighty nine walkers took to the North Norfolk Coast over the weekend for the sixth annual Coastal Walk Challenge.

The gruelling 24-hour charity walk, organised by the Community Sports Foundation (CSF), started at Hunstanton early Friday morning and ended at the historic Cromer Pier on Saturday.

Fundraisers passed through seaside towns, coastal villages and beaches, completing a distance of 47-miles in total.

The group have so far raised a staggering £22,000 for the Foundation's work with disadvantaged and disabled people across the county.

CSF Fundraising Officer Emma Fletcher commented:

“All eighty nine walkers did an incredible job tackling the coastal paths; many conquered personal challenges by making it to the end which is brilliant! It was great to see everyone getting along, chatting in their groups and dotting the coastline in yellow.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part and made the event such a success. Early estimates are that we have raised £22,000 for the local community and this is set to rise. Our walkers really were changing lives with every step!

“Also a special mention to our volunteer masseurs and physios for working through the day and night and to Simon from Randell's Footcare who looked after everyone’s feet!”

CSF would like to thank event sponsors Ashton’s LegalCafe2U for supplying drinks at Morston, local butcher Icarus Hines and The Grove Cromer for organising a post-walk barbecue, Wells Beach Café for opening up out-of-hours to serve food and Sainsbury’s, Phil Swash and the Holden Group for supplying essential event support.
