Elite Centres
Bridging the gap to the Centre of Excellence
The Girls' Elite Centres are the second tier of the progression programme for female footballers, designed to bridge the gap between the Player Development Centres and the Centre of Excellence.
With increased numbers and higher standards in the female game, it was realised that introducing an additional tier would enhance the development of girls and their aspirations to play at the highest level possible, whilst still being able to participate for their clubs.
Girls involved in the programme will train once a week with qualified and experienced coaches, taking part in technical and tactical sessions. All players will also be involved in fitness testing and receive physio and rehab support. In addition to this, the girls will be given the opportunity to train with the Centre of Excellence at certain stages throughout the season and will receive written feedback twice a year as part of their development.
The Girls' Elite Centres are invitation only and places are secured through an annual trial or through recommendations received during the season.
